MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511130241 A) filed by Birla Institute Of Technology And Science, Pilani on December 22, 2025, for Solar Assisted Grain Drying System Integrated With Thermal Energy Storage.

Inventors include Shivasheesh Kaushik; Dr. Srikanta Routroy; Dr. P. Srinivasan; and Vinay Sati.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a solar-assisted grain dryer (1000). The solar-assisted grain dryer (1000) is disclosed, comprising a power source unit (100) and an air blower (200) configured to draw ambient air through an air inlet valve (701) and deliver controlled airflow via a variac (201). A parabolic trough collector (304) equipped with a solar tracking adjuster screw rim link (305) harnesses solar radiation to preheat the air. A plurality of air pre-heaters (300, 301), including a backup pre-heater (300), further elevate air temperature. A heat storage unit (11) having sub-units HSU (11A) and HSU (11B) stores excess thermal and recirculated waste heat and releases it during low solar conditions, each sub-unit incorporating concentric copper and PVC pipes (11A01–11A02; 11B01– 11B02), phase change material (11A05, 11B05), and control valves (11A0601–11A0625; 11B0601–11B0625). to be published FIG. 1
