MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611089706 A) filed by Krishna Institute Of Engineering & Technology Kiet on July 23, 2026, for Soil Health Monitoring System Using Npk Sensor.
Inventors include Ashani Tiwari; Rahul Kumar; and Dr. Ameer Faisal.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides a real-time soil health monitoring system using an NPK sensor integrated with a microcontroller for precise measurement of essential soil macronutrients Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K). The system comprises an electrochemical NPK sensing probe that is directly inserted into the soil, a microcontroller unit (such as Arduino or ESP32) for data acquisition, processing, calibration, and generation of fertilizer recommendations, a local LCD/OLED display for instant visualization of nutrient levels, and an optional wireless communication module (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GSM or LoRa) for transmitting real-time data to a companion mobile or web application. The processed data enables crop-specific fertilizer dosage suggestions and remote monitoring. The compact, low-cost, weatherproof (IP65-rated) design with rechargeable battery and optional solar charging allows easy, tool-free field deployment by farmers without requiring laboratory testing. By delivering accurate, continuous, and actionable soil nutrient information, the invention optimizes fertilizer usage, enhances crop productivity, reduces environmental pollution due to excessive chemical application, and promotes sustainable precision agriculture practices. The system is portable, user-friendly, and particularly suitable for small and marginal farmers in developing countries.
