Inventors include Dr. Garg, Rajesh Kumar; Dr. Sharma, Neeraj; Kumar, Ashok; and Dubey, Ashish.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: A device (100) for measuring snow depth is disclosed, including a base plate (102) connected to a ground surface (104), and a vertical rod (106) mechanically coupled to the base plate (102). The vertical rod (106) is divided into one or more detachable sections (106A, 106B, and 106C), wherein each section comprises a plurality of IR proximity sensors (126) facing a snow surface. A controller (200), electrically connected to the detachable sections (106), selectively activates at least one IR proximity sensor (126) based on a pre-determined search technique, receives reflected signals from the snow surface, and determines the snow depth. The device (100) includes a mounting cap (108) removably coupled to an upper end of the vertical rod (106), and ropes (110) connecting the upper end to the ground surface (104).
