MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641099986 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on August 19, 2026, for Smart Wobble Board With Integrated Pressure Sensors For Bilateral Weight Distribution And Proprioceptive Training.

Inventors include Ummareddy Shankar; Dr. S. Suji; and Dr Ramya Mohan.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: This project introduces a Smart Wobble Board designed to enhance proprioceptive training and monitor bilateral weight distribution in real-time using integrated pressure sensors. The objective is to provide objective, quantifiable feedback to users, physiotherapists, and trainers, thereby accelerating rehabilitation, improving balance, and preventing injuries. The board incorporates an array of Force-Sensitive Resistors (FSRs) or piezoresistive sensors strategically placed on the top surface, a central microcontroller unit for data acquisition and processing, and a wireless module for data transmission to a companion application. This innovation addresses the subjectivity and lack of objective measurement in traditional balance training. Initial testing demonstrates high accuracy in detecting shifts in the Center of Pressure (CoP) and weight bearing asymmetry. This technology enables personalized training protocols, supports the tracking of recovery progress, and provides data suitable for sports science research and clinical assessment.
