Abstract: Language barriers are one of the major problems faced by tourists while traveling to foreign countries. Communicating with local people, understanding signboards, reading menus, and following directions becomes difficult when the language is unfamiliar. Most existing translation solutions depend on mobile applications, which require frequent phone usage and stable internet connectivity. This project proposes a Smart Lens system that provides real-time translation of both spoken and written languages using smart glasses and a mobile application. The system allows users to select languages through both the glasses and the mobile app for better flexibility. It also supports offline translation in low-connectivity areas and highlights important safety-related information such as emergency signs. The proposed Smart Lens aims to reduce language barriers, improve travel safety, and make communication easier and more convenient for tourists.
