Abstract: Communication is a fundamental need for human interaction, yet individuals with speech and hearing impairments often face difficulties in expressing themselves effectively. This project presents the design and development of a smart hand gesture to speech recognition system using IoT technology. The system utilizes a wearable glove embedded with sensors to detect hand gestures and convert them into meaningful speech output. The glove is equipped with sensors such as flex sensors (or tilt/mercury sensors) that detect finger movements and hand positions. These signals are processed by the ESP32 microcontroller, which identifies predefined gesture patterns. Each recognized gesture is mapped to a specific message, which is then displayed on an LCD screen and simultaneously converted into voice output using a speaker module. The system can also be integrated with the Blynk Cloud platform to enable remote monitoring and control through a smartphone application. Wireless communication is achieved using Wi-Fi, making the system efficient and user-friendly. This project provides an affordable, portable, and effective solution to assist speech-impaired individuals in communication. It promotes the use of embedded systems, IoT, and assistive technology to improve accessibility and enhance quality of life.
