Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a smart water quality monitoring system using edge intelligence for real-time assessment and management of water quality conditions. The system comprises a distributed sensor network configured to acquire water quality parameters including pH, turbidity, temperature, water level, dissolved oxygen, total dissolved solids, chlorine concentration, ultraviolet intensity, and image-derived contamination information. An edge processing unit performs local preprocessing, multi- parameter sensor fusion, dual-layer anomaly detection, and machine-learning-based water quality classification to generate contamination status outputs without dependence on continuous cloud connectivity. Processed event data, anomaly summaries, and predictive indicators are selectively transmitted to a cloud analytics platform for contamination forecasting, trend analysis, and model optimization. A feedback learning module updates machine-learning models using historical monitoring data and operational feedback. The invention provides autonomous operation, reduced communication bandwidth, low-latency response, adaptive learning, and improved contamination detection for municipal, industrial, environmental, and smart water management applications.
