Abstract: The present invention relates to a smart waste management system using drones and Internet of Things (IoT) technology for monitoring, identifying, and managing garbage accumulation areas. The system comprises one or more UAVs equipped with cameras, GPS modules, wireless communication interfaces, and IoT-enabled components configured to capture aerial images and location data of waste disposal regions. The captured images are processed using image preprocessing, feature extraction, and machine learning- based classification techniques to identify garbage heaps and determine waste severity levels. The system further transmits real-time waste information, GPS coordinates, timestamps, and captured images to a centralized monitoring station through cloud and IoT infrastructure. The invention enables municipal authorities to monitor garbage locations, schedule cleaning operations, track waste collection vehicles, and optimize sanitation management activities. The proposed system reduces manual monitoring efforts, improves operational efficiency, and supports smart city waste management initiatives through automated and intelligent waste detection and monitoring mechanisms.
