Abstract: SMART WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DYNAMICALLY ROUTING WASTE COLLECTION VEHICLES A smart waste management system (100) and a method (400) for dynamically routing waste collection vehicles are disclosed. The system (100) includes a plurality of waste bins (104A-104N), each comprising a fill-level sensor (106), at least one environmental sensor (108), an image sensor (110), an edge computing device (112), and a communication module (114), and a routing server (118). The routing server (118) receives fill-level data, environmental data, and hazard information, determines a time-to-expiration (TTE) for each waste bin based on the fill-level data and environmental data, assigns a collection priority according to the determined TTE, assigns a highest collection priority upon detection of hazardous waste, obtains traffic information, and generates a collection route for at least one waste collection vehicle (136) based on the assigned collection priorities and the traffic information. The edge computing device (112) may execute a machine learning model to identify hazardous waste from captured image data. FIG. 1
