Abstract: The present invention provides a Smart Washroom and Hygiene Monitoring System for real-time monitoring and management of washroom hygiene and maintenance conditions. The system comprises multiple sensors including occupancy or motion sensors, infrared entry/exit sensors, a gas/odor sensor, a moisture sensor, ultrasonic or level sensors and consumable-level sensors, coupled to an embedded controller and wireless communication interface. The controller processes sensor readings, determines occupancy and hygiene states, compares readings with configurable thresholds, and controls one or more actuators such as exhaust fans and sanitizer dispensers. Sensor events and alerts are transmitted to a cloud/backend platform for storage, dashboard visualization, task generation and mobile notifications. Cleaning staff can receive and complete demand-based cleaning or refill tasks, while facility managers can monitor conditions, configure thresholds and review historical reports. The system may additionally retain data during network interruptions and apply analytics to historical data for predictive maintenance and resource planning. The invention provides continuous monitoring, timely intervention, reduced unnecessary maintenance and improved resource utilization.
