MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611110340 A) filed by Chandigarh University on September 14, 2026, for Smart Wash Basin System For Automatic Water Segregation And Wastage Control.
Inventor includes Deven.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a smart wash basin system (100) comprising a smart tap assembly (101), flow and pressure sensors (102, 103), a wash basin body (104), a water-quality sensing arrangement (105), a control unit (106), and an automatic diversion valve (107). The sensing arrangement evaluates used water near a drainage region before discharge. The control unit classifies the water and actuates the diversion valve to route reusable water through a reusable-water outlet channel (108) to a storage unit (109), while contaminated water is routed through a wastewater outlet channel (110). A backflow-prevention mechanism (111) maintains separation between the paths. The control unit additionally uses flow and pressure information to control leakage, abnormal flow, overflow-related operation, and improper tap closure. The arrangement provides automated point-of-use water recovery and wastage control.
