Abstract: Headlights in automobile help you drive safely at night. The two main settings for headlights, high beam and low beam, serve different purposes by making things easier to see and safer. High beam headlights shine a brighter, more intense light that covers a larger area and makes it easier to see things from a long distance. Low beam headlights, on the other hand, give off a more focused and controlled light that is better for driving in well-lit areas or when there is traffic coming toward you. Drivers use the high beam of the headlight to see things clearly from a distance when they are driving at night, especially on highways. However, most of the time, drivers forget or don't turn off the high beam on their headlights when they are driving in cities or rural roads. For a short time, these high beam headlights blind drivers coming from the other way and most of the accidents that happen in cities after dark are because drivers don't know how to use their high beam headlights properly. The proposed invention ‘an intelligent GPS-integrated headlight dimming system for safer driving in cities’ automatically manages low-beam and high-beam operation based on surrounding traffic and environmental conditions. The automatic headlight system operates based on vehicle speed obtained through GPS. This GPS module integrate with the electronic control unit (ECU) in the vehicle, which will then connect the ECU to a signal relay in the headlight circuit. This allows us to control the headlight based on the vehicle speed. Thus, this system eliminates the high beam option in cities or when oncoming traffic is heavy provided the vehicle is in low speed. In cities and rural roads, this system avoids the uncomfortable situations and accidents to pedestrians coming in opposite direction in single roads. This circuit can be helpful even when the driver forgets to turn off the high beam lights in cities or traffic zones.
