Abstract: ABSTRACT SMART TRUNK PROTECTION DEVICE IN COCONUT PLANTATION The present invention relates to a smart, automated pest control device for protecting coconut trees from Red Palm Weevil (RPW). The device comprises a weather-resistant enclosure having controlled entry openings configured to allow entry of target insects while restricting larger organisms. An attractant dispensing module, including an ultrasonic mist generator, is configured to periodically release a natural fruit-based fragrance to lure the insects into the enclosure. One or more infrared (IR) sensors are positioned near the entry openings to detect the presence of insects within the enclosure. Upon detection, a microcontroller activates an internal electric mesh grid through a relay module to deliver a controlled electric shock for immediate elimination of the pest. The grid is automatically deactivated after a predefined duration to conserve energy and ensure operational safety. The device is powered by a solar energy system comprising a photovoltaic panel, a rechargeable battery, and a charge controller, enabling continuous and autonomous operation in off-grid agricultural environments. The invention provides an energy-efficient, eco-friendly, and low-maintenance solution for selective pest control, reducing crop damage and minimizing reliance on chemical pesticides.
