The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: A smart traffic monitoring system and method for real-time object detection and analytics using live video streams from diverse camera sources. The system comprises a server-hosted deep learning engine based on YOLOv8 neural network 10 integrated with a Flask web application, enabling secure admin access to annotated live feeds via browser. Cameras including webcams, IP and RTSP sources transmit video to the server for frame-wise processing, detection of vehicles and pedestrians, bounding box annotation, real- time counting and metadata logging. The web interface provides stream controls, authentication and analytics display, achieving 15 15–30 FPS performance on standard hardware. The invention automates surveillance, reduces human error and supports scalable deployment for urban traffic management and smart city applications.
