Abstract: The project primarily focuses on designing and developing a smart toilet system that combines electrical, mechanical, and software components to increase cleanliness, maintenance, and availability. This project includes a spring-based flushing mechanism, mainly focused on saving electricity. That mechanism uses one liter of water for urinals and six liters for seated purposes to enhance water saving and also reduce manual effort. UV-C LEDs kill the bacteria inside the toilet bowl after every use and also include a hot air-dry blower inside a seat lid to provide hygiene for the users. A new feature included in a project is a mobile application connected to sensors that provide information about the availability of a smart toilet. When the water level is very low, the lid automatically closes, and the app sends a message to users with a "Low water level" status. This system is to improve a user's awareness and efficiency. When compared to other systems, it is user-friendly and cost-effective. The project aims to improve public hygiene in areas such as hospitals, transport hubs, and rural public toilets. The prototype works well and achieves goals in public health and hygiene. It also helps in developing a smart city with a clear hardware design.
