The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A smart solar dryer for onions is provided, comprising a renewable thermal energy system with an indirect flat-plate solar collector, thermal-storage chamber, sealed biowaste chamber, and water-filled copper heat-transfer coil for supplying and maintaining heat within an insulated drying chamber. Temperature and humidity sensors continuously monitor the drying conditions, while a load cell measures the onion weight and corresponding weight loss during drying. The sensed data is processed by an ESP32-based control unit using AI-assisted drying detection to monitor drying progress, estimate drying time, and determine drying completion. A PWM-controlled ventilation fan automatically regulates air circulation according to the drying conditions. Additionally, the system includes a mobile application for remote monitoring of temperature, humidity, onion weight, drying progress, and drying-completion notifications
