MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641122296 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on October 13, 2026, for Smart Shop Competition Lace Clips.
Inventors include D. Sathya Srinivasa Nayak; Dr. T. G. Sakthivel; and Dr Ramya Mohan.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The Smart Shoe is an innovative wearable system designed to monitor physical activity and basic health parameters in real time. This project integrates pressure sensors, an accelerometer-based inertial measurement unit (IMU), and optional biometric sensors within the shoe sole to accurately track footsteps, and foot pressure distribution. The embedded microcontroller processes sensor data using sensor fusion algorithms to enhance step-count accuracy and movement detection. The system features a compact display module mounted on the shoe (such as on the tongue or side panel) to show real-time step count and activity information. Additionally, the collected data can be transmitted wirelessly via Bluetooth to a smartphone application for long-term monitoring and analysis. The Smart Shoe is designed with low power consumption and rechargeable battery support to ensure extended usage. This device can assist users in fitness tracking, rehabilitation monitoring, and preventive healthcare applications. By integrating sensing technology with wearable footwear, the Smart Shoe provides a comfortable, portable, and efficient solution for continuous activity monitoring and health awareness.Furthermore, the system enables real-time gait pattern analysis to detect abnormalities in walking posture, which can help in early diagnosis of musculoskeletal disorders. The modular architecture of the design allows future integration of advanced healthmonitoring features such as heart rate estimation, calorie tracking, and cloud-based health data analytics. The Smart Shoe thus represents a next-generation intelligent footwear solution that bridges the gap between wearable technology and smart healthcare systems.
