MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621049303 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Science Education And Research Iiser, Bhopal on April 17, 2026, for Smart Sensing Tag System.

Inventors include Bhattacharjee, Mitradip; and Patel, Sanjeev.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: A smart electronic sensing tag system (100) incorporates a set of packaging unit (101), including a first packaging unit (101A), second packaging unit (101B), and third packaging unit (101C), houses and supports the internal elements of the system (100). A flexible and biodegradable substrate (102) serves as the base, enabling interaction with sensing materials of interest. A sensing unit (105) detects chemical, physical, or biochemical parameters, while radiating element (202) transmits signals corresponding to these parameters through a wireless communication pathway to an external reading device (500). A processing unit (103) manages signals from the sensing unit (105), providing processed data to the radiating element (202) for transmission. An indicator (104) displays detection or operational status. Significantly, the radiating element (202) and processing unit (103) operate without an internal battery, drawing power from the external reading device (500), ensuring sustainable and battery-less functionality.
