Abstract: Abstract Disclosed is a smart self-cleaning sink system comprising a sink basin with an inner surface, a drain opening and a drainage pathway; rotating water-jet nozzles positioned along an inner rim region and a drain-adjacent region; at least one residue detection sensor; a drain-cleaning assembly comprising angled water jets disposed downstream of the drain opening; and an electronic control unit. The rotating water-jet nozzles are oriented to discharge water in a cyclonic flow across the inner surface toward the drain opening. The angled water jets generate a vortex flow within the drainage pathway. Upon detection of residue in the sink basin or adjacent to the drain opening, the electronic control unit initiates a cleaning cycle in which residue dislodged and transferred through the drain opening by the cyclonic flow is entrained by the vortex flow and removed along the drainage pathway.
