Abstract: TITLE: SMART RECONFIGURABLE MOBILITY SYSTEM FOR SPINAL CORD INJURY PATIENTS APPLICANT: 1. SRI BALAJI VIDYAPEETH 2. SCHOOL OF PHYSIOTHERAPHY 3. MAHATMA GANDHI MEDICAL COLLEGE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE 4. SHRI SATHYA SAI MEDICAL COLLEGE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a smart reconfigurable mobility system for spinal cord injury patients configured to facilitate patient mobility, rehabilitation, positioning, and independent transfer. The mobility system comprises a modular four-segment articulating frame having a headrest, backrest, seat, and leg-rest mounted on a telescopic wheelbase. A plurality of linear actuators is configured to transition the articulating frame between a wheelchair mode, a substantially 180° flat bed mode, and a vertical tilt table mode. A retractable armrest assembly provides a gapless lateral transfer bridge for patient transfer. An active anti-decubitus system comprising a pressure sensor matrix, interconnected hydraulic bladders, a miniature hydraulic pump, and a control unit programmed with an anti-sore algorithm redistributes fluid within the hydraulic bladders to relieve localized pressure and maintain blood circulation. A user-operated joystick control system with safety interlocks coordinates operation of the mobility system to enable safe transition between lying, sitting, and standing positions while providing integrated rehabilitation and pressure management.
