Abstract: An edge-based smart reading companion device for real-time comprehension monitoring is disclosed. The device includes a housing assembly (110), display module (111), eye-tracking sensor module (112), blink detection sub-unit (113), head posture monitoring sensor (114), and user interaction monitoring module (115). A semantic complexity analysis engine (116) evaluates textual difficulty. A multimodal synchronization controller (117) aligns behavioral signals which are processed by an edge artificial intelligence inference processor (118). A comprehension confidence index generator (119) produces a scalar comprehension value. When the value falls below a predefined threshold, an adaptive feedback module (120) injects contextual assistance. The device operates fully on-device, preserving privacy and enabling low-latency intervention during reading.
