MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611110308 A) filed by Chandigarh University on September 14, 2026, for Smart Pull-Assist Luggage System With Terrain Sensing And Automatic Braking.
Inventors include Rakesh Kumar; and Prateek.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to motor-assisted wheeled luggage having a trolley bag body (101), handle (102) with pull-force sensor (103), incline sensor (114), wheel resistance sensor (115), controller unit (104), rechargeable battery pack (105), motor driver circuit (106), motorized wheel (107) and braking mechanism (117). The controller processes pulling effort, terrain inclination and wheel resistance to 15 selectively operate the motorized wheel for assistance when increased effort is required. When downhill movement is detected, the controller operates a brake driver (116) and braking mechanism (117) to restrain uncontrolled movement. The motorized wheel can include a freewheel clutch (108), BLDC motor (109), gear system (110), electromagnetic brake (111), wheel (113) and wheel cover 20 (112). The system reduces pulling effort and improves control of luggage on slopes, ramps and uneven travel surfaces while avoiding unnecessary continuous motor assistance
