MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641100103 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on August 19, 2026, for Smart Pressure-Controlled Impression Tray.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT An electronic full-arch impression tray designed for complete denture impressions, equipped with an array of micro-pressure sensors embedded within a flexible silicone lining. As the tray is seated over the edentulous arch, the sensors continuously map pressure distribution in real-time and transmit data wirelessly to either a handheld display unit or a companion smartphone/tablet application. The system provides a colorcoded pressure map and audible or visual alerts when overpressure is detected at any zone of the arch, enabling the clinician to adjust seating force or tray position before the impression material sets. The tray body is fabricated from autoclave-compatible materials, permitting full sterilization and repeated clinical use. This invention eliminates soft tissue distortion — the primary source of inaccuracy in complete denture impressions — by replacing subjective tactile assessment with objective, quantitative pressure guidance.
