Abstract: Power line breakage during adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain, storms, and strong winds poses significant risks to public safety and infrastructure. Conventional fault detection systems rely heavily on manual inspection or delayed reporting, resulting in prolonged outages and increased hazards such as electric shocks and fires. The proposed invention presents a Smart Power Line Breakage Detection and Alert System that autonomously detects line faults using real-time monitoring of electrical and mechanical parameters. The system employs sensors to measure voltage, current, and line tension, which are processed by a microcontroller-based unit to identify abnormal conditions indicating line breakage. Upon detection, the system automatically disconnects the power supply using a relay mechanism and simultaneously transmits alert notifications through GSM or IoT modules to the concerned authorities. This intelligent system ensures rapid fault isolation, minimizes human intervention, enhances safety, and reduces downtime. The invention is particularly suitable for smart grid applications and contributes to the development of resilient and automated power distribution networks.
