Abstract: The rapid increase in the use of electronic devices has Jed to significant energy wastage, especially due to idle power consumption from chargers and small appliances left plugged in. This project presents a Smart Plug for Energy Wastage Detection, designed to automatically identifY and eliminate such unnecessary power usage. The system uses voltage and current sensors to continuously monitor the power consumption of a connected device. When a charger is plugged into the socket but not connected to a load (such as a mobile phone), the system detects the minimal current flow indicating idle condition. Based on this detection, the microcontroller activates a relay to automatically cut off the power supply, thereby preventing energy wastage. The system also includes an LCD display for real-time monitoring of voltage, current, and power status, along with an optional Wi-Fi module for remote monitoring and control through loT platforms like Blynk ..
