MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621040932 A) filed by Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Limited on March 31, 2026, for Smart Piezo-Actuated Structural Damping System For Active Noise And Vibration Control In Screw Compressors.

Inventor includes Abhishek Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: A smart piezo-actuated structural damping system (100) for active control of vibration and acoustic noise in screw compressors (204) is disclosed. The system (100) employs a network of piezoelectric (102) elements mounted on a compressor (204) casing, wherein at least one element functions as a vibration-responsive sensor and other functions as an actuator. Electrical energy generated from structural vibration is conditioned and phase-shifted to drive the actuator to produce a counter-vibration that attenuates tonal noise and structural resonance. A hybrid feed-forward control arrangement utilizes a rotational speed reference and vibration feedback to adapt operation under variable speed and load conditions. An optimal placement methodology determines actuator location and configuration while accounting for structural property changes due to actuator bonding. The system (100) enables targeted suppression of lobe-passing frequency and harmonic vibrations, improves reliability, and is suitable for integration into new compressors (204) or retrofit applications.
