Abstract: Smart pet feeders are increasingly used to automate feeding schedules for domestic animals such as dogs and cats. However, most existing feeders focus only on dispensing food and lack integrated health monitoring capabilities. Conventional pet feeders do not track critical health indicators such as food intake patterns, feeding frequency, eating speed, weight changes, or behavioral anomalies that may -indicate illness. This absence of health monitoring limits early detection of health issues and reduces the effectiveness of preventive pet care. Additionally, pet owners often rely on separate devices or manual observation to monitor pet health, which is inefficient and inconsistent. The lack of integration between feeding and health monitoring leads to data fragmentation, reduced accuracy, and increased effort for pet owners. The present study highlights the functional limitations of existing smart pet feeders due to the absence of real-time health monitoring features. It emphasizes the need for an integrated smart pet feeder system capable of monitoring feeding behavior and basic health parameters. Addressing this limitation can enhance pet well- being, enable early health intervention, improve owner convenience, and promote smarter pet care management
