Abstract: Electric motors are widely used in industrial equipment, agricultural pumping systems, and automated machinery, where reliable operation is essential for maintaining productivity. Faults such as overload, overheating, excessive current, and voltage fluctuations can affect motor performance, increase maintenance requirements, and result in unexpected failures. The present invention describes a smart motor monitoring and protection system that continuously observes the operating condition of an electric motor using voltage, current, and temperature sensors connected to an Arduino/ATmega microcontroller. The measured values are compared with predefined operating limits to identify unsafe conditions during operation. Whenever any parameter exceeds the permissible range, the controller disconnects the motor supply through a relay, thereby preventing further damage and improving operational safety. A NodeMCU ESP8266 module enables wireless communication with an IoT platform, allowing motor parameters and fault conditions to be viewed remotely, while a 16×2 LCD provides local display of the monitored values and system status. The integration of continuous monitoring, automatic protection, and remote access within a single embedded platform offers a practical and economical solution for reducing equipment downtime, improving maintenance planning, and supporting reliable motor operation in industrial, agricultural, and educational applications.
