MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202644101477 A) filed by Kit - Kalaignarkarunanidhi Institute Of Technology on August 22, 2026, for Smart Method Of Separation (sms) For Coir Fibre Manufacturing Units (cm).

Inventors include Dr. B. Senthilkumar; Dr. K. Sampathkumar; and Dr. R. Gowrishankar.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: Overloading is one of the main issues faced by coir industries. Manual separation of materials like husk and semi processed fibre has been practiced by all the units for preventing the overloading and increasing the protection of materials. Automation support for this task is still under research and development. To address this issue a new method of automatic fibre separation named smart method of separation (sms) for coir fibre manufacturing units (cm) (SMS for CM) has been proposed, tested and found satisfactory results in reducing overloading, time consumption and increasing the production. This SMS for CM is a combination of three modules (Motor with Gear box Setup, Bull Drum with Teath/Blade Setup and Panel Board with Control Switch setup). Further, the proposed invention requires no physical manpower support and it only requires monitoring.
