Abstract: A smart Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) binder (100) encompasses an open-front KMC wrap body (102) to securely support an infant in a skin-to-skin position with a caregiver. A neck-support airway-position sensing subsystem (104) integrated into the open-front KMC wrap body (102) continuously monitors the infant's head-to- torso angle, while a physiological monitoring panel (106) positioned in the infant-contact region continuously measures one or more physiological parameters. A strap- tension sensing subsystem (108) integrated into one or more closure straps continuously detects strap tension to ensure secure infant positioning. A detachable sensor pod (110), removably coupled to open-front KMC wrap body (102), receives and processes signals from the sensing subsystem (104), monitoring panel (106), and strap-tension sensing subsystem (108). A communication interface (112) enables wireless data transmission to an application interface (114) for displaying monitoring information, and an alert notification system (116) generates safety notifications based on detected airway-position, physiological, or strap-tension abnormalities.
