MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641072267 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 10, 2026, for Smart Irrigation System With Predictive Sprinkler Control.
Inventors include Padma Priya R; Pooja S; and Varshini Sabapathy.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT SMART IRRIGATION SYSTEM WITH PREDICTIVE SPRINKLER CONTROL A smart irrigation system (100) comprises soil moisture sensors (102) distributed across crop plots to measure soil water content, a processing unit (110) configured to receive soil moisture data, determine a moisture deficit for each crop plot, and generate an irrigation command when the moisture deficit exceeds a threshold, a sprinkler actuation module (120) configured to receive the irrigation command and soil and crop parameters including the moisture deficit, field capacity value, permanent wilting point value, root depth value, field area value, and evapotranspiration rate value, apply a regression model to predict an irrigation duration and spray radius, and generate a valve command specifying the predicted irrigation duration and spray radius, and a sprinkler assembly (130) configured to execute the valve command to deliver water to the crop plot for the predicted irrigation duration at the predicted spray radius.
