The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: Urban waste management presents significant challenges due to improper segregation, increasing waste volume, and inefficient collection mechanisms. In this study, an intelligent waste management system is proposed that integrates artificial intelligence and Internet of Things to automate waste segregation and monitoring. Waste images are captured using embedded cameras and analyzed using AI-based classification models to categorize waste into biodegradable, recyclable, and non-recyclable types. Sensor-based detection mechanisms such as moisture and metal sensors further enhance classification accuracy. The segregated waste is directed into appropriate compartments using an automated mechanical system. Real-time monitoring of bin levels is achieved through IoT modules, which transmit data to a centralized platform for optimized waste collection scheduling. This approach improves efficiency, reduces manual effort, and supports sustainable urban waste management. Future work will focus on integrating advanced analytics and smart city infrastructure.
