Abstract: The present invention relates to a Smart IoT and Blockchain-Based Cold Chain Monitoring System developed for continuous monitoring, secure storage, and transparent traceability of temperature-sensitive products including vaccines, medicines, biological samples, blood products, and perishable food items. Conventional cold chain monitoring systems rely primarily on manual inspection and centralized databases, resulting in delayed fault detection, limited traceability, and vulnerability to unauthorized data modification. The proposed invention integrates IoT sensing devices, wireless communication, cloud computing, blockchain technology, and intelligent monitoring algorithms into a unified platform. Temperature, humidity, and optional gas sensors continuously acquire environmental parameters through an ESP32-based gateway. The collected information is transmitted to a cloud dashboard for real-time visualization while simultaneously being stored as immutable blockchain transactions using cryptographic hashing techniques. The blockchain ledger ensures permanent, tamper-proof storage of monitoring records, thereby improving transparency, accountability, and supply chain trust. The system automatically generates instant notifications whenever monitored environmental parameters exceed predefined safety thresholds, enabling rapid corrective action and reducing product spoilage. Historical monitoring data may further be analyzed for predictive maintenance and spoilage forecasting. The invention provides significant advantages including secure data integrity, remote monitoring, automated alert generation, enhanced traceability, reduced operational losses, improved regulatory compliance, and scalable deployment across hospitals, pharmaceutical industries, vaccine distribution centers, biotechnology laboratories, food processing industries, and logistics organizations.
