Abstract: ABSTRACT: Smart IoT-AI System for Pathogen-Aware Degradation and Traceable Disposal of Medical Plastic Waste This invention describes integrated smart system for pathogen-aware classification, adaptive degradation, predictive analysis, and certified disposal of infectious medical plastic waste in healthcare environments. The system comprises a classification and infection-load assessment unit employing AI-based polymer recognition and biosensor-based pathogen detection; an adaptive degradation chamber configured to modulate sterilisation and biodegradation parameters based on detected inputs; a predictive analytics engine trained to estimate neutralisation and decomposition timelines; and a blockchain-enabled compliance interface that generates immutable, verifiable certificates of safe disposal. Real-time sensor feedback governs the dynamic control of environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, UV-C exposure, and enzymatic application. The invention ensures traceable, risk-sensitive waste treatment, particularly for items contaminated by high-risk pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2, MRSA, and tuberculosis. It addresses critical limitations in existing waste management practices by providing an intelligent, automated, and regulation-compliant framework for the safe and accountable disposal of biomedical plastic waste.
