Abstract: The patented system presented proposes a smart and assistive home automation system that allows one to control household appliances with a pair of smart glasses containing eye blink detection and voice recognition technologies. The invention is particularly directed towards physically challenged people, elderly people, a patient that is paralyzed and limited mobility users, and is designed to provide an intuitive, contactless, and user-friendly interaction with smart home devices. The typical home automation system relies on hand controls, smart phone apps or physical switches, which can be difficult for people with significant physical restrictions to operate. To overcome these challenges, the proposed system introduces a multimodal interaction framework that integrates both eye blink pattern recognition and voice command processing, thereby enhancing both reliability and accessibility, and allowing for greater operational flexibility. This system is equipped with sensors with the smart glasses, which constantly track eye movements and blink sequences. Blinking sequence is understood as set commands to power on/off appliances, change light levels, control fans, operate doors or send alarms. Also, integrated voice recognition serves as a second control channel to allow users to speak instructions for added convenience and redundancy. A microcontroller-based loT platform like ESP8266 or NodeMCU receives user inputs, and then wirelessly communicates with the connected smart appliances using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth protocols. The proposed invention enables real-time response, low power consumption, compact wearable architecture, and easily integrates into the existing home infrastructure. The system also has safety features to prevent accidental triggering with intelligent blink classification algorithms and confirmation logic. The invention can be used in assisted living, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, and homes. The proposed technology integrates the concepts of wearable computing, artificial intelligence, and loT -based automation to support independent living, user comfort, and inclusive and accessible smart environments.
