MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641092986 A) filed by Geethanjali College Of Engineering And Technology, Hyderabad on July 31, 2026, for Smart Food Spoilage Detection And Quality Monitoring System.

Inventors include Dr. B. Nagamani; Mohammed Abdul Baseer; and Aarav Singh.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: Foodborne illness and food waste impose enormous public health and economic costs driven by inadequate real-time food freshness assessment. The Smart Food Spoilage Detection and Quality Monitoring System integrates an 8-element MOS gas sensor e-nose array targeting ammonia, H2S, ethanol, methane, and VOC spoilage biomarkers with TCS34725 RGB color surface monitoring and DHT22 temperature and humidity sensing within food storage environments. A multi-input deep learning model combining 1D CNN e-nose sequence processing and Dense environmental feature networks classifies food freshness into Fresh, Early Spoilage, Spoiled, and Unsafe categories across 9 food types with above 92% accuracy. Arrhenius and Q10 kinetic models dynamically update consume-by predictions based on actual storage condition histories. A consumer mobile application provides real-time freshness status and waste reduction analytics, while a cloud retail platform delivers food safety compliance documentation and inventory management.
