MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621053314 A) filed by Viraj Satish Wadatkar; Sanika Sarang Patankar; and Aditi Deepak Nemade on April 27, 2026, for Smart Food Freshness Monitoring System With Dynamic Threshold-Based Alert Mechanism..

Inventors include Viraj Satish Wadatkar; Sanika Sarang Patankar; and Aditi Deepak Nemade.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The current invention is connected to the Smart Food Freshness Monitoring System with Dynamic Threshold-Based Alert Mechanism that is used to detect and analyse food spoilage in real-time. The system consists of a control unit (microcontroller), gas sensors (MQ- 3, MQ-4, MQ-135), temperature and humidity sensor, a display unit, alarms, and wireless communication. A Freshness Index is used to assess the quality of food, and the microcontroller continuously measures the gas concentrations and environmental conditions and computes this index. The system creates alerts and triggers a ventilation system in case the levels of the gases are found to be above the predefined thresholds or the level of freshness is below a pre-set limit. It is designed to work round the clock and can be used to transmit data to be monitored remotely. The built-in design minimizes food waste, ensures better food safety and increases monitoring efficiency. The invention offers an affordable, small-sized and scalable solution that can be used in homes and businesses to store food.
