Inventors include K S S Sai; and K N V S S Pavan Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: Smart Firmware Upgrade for Electricity Meter with Automated Disconnect and Reconnect An electricity meter firmware upgrade integrates a Billing Synchronization Module, Decision Engine, Local Cache Database, Supervisory Login Module and Reconciliation Utility with existing communication and relay-control systems. The firmware periodically retrieves billing and payment information securely, evaluates overdue conditions and disconnects supply without external disconnect commands. Following verified settlement, it reconnects supply automatically, with revised-bill, penalty or late-fee validation where applicable. Encrypted communications, tamper resistance, audit logging, local caching, supervisory diagnostics and automatic reconciliation support reliability during communication failures. The firmware automates billing-based supply control within advanced metering infrastructure to reduce utility operating costs, improve restoration times and enhance reliability and security.
