MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641124068 A) filed by Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation on October 16, 2026, for Smart Elevator Call Optimization System And Method Using Multi-Sensor Presence Fusion And Adaptive Call Cancellation.

Inventors include Balusani Akhil; Pathuri Jairam Chowdary; M. D. N. S. Sriram; Kantamani Nilesh; Balusani Srikar; and S. Shanmugan.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A smart elevator call optimization system (100) cancels abandoned and ghost landing calls automatically. A presence detection module (110) having a millimetre-wave radar sensor (112), which detects a stationary person, and a passive infrared sensor (114) monitors the waiting zone (104) of a landing. An edge processing unit (120) fuses the normalised sensor confidences into a presence probability, classifies the zone as occupied, ambiguous or vacant against two thresholds, and computes for each call an absence-confirmation timeout from floor height, time of day and traffic. When the zone remains vacant beyond the timeout, a decision block (128) issues a cancellation command unless a safety interlock (129) finds the cab within a set number of floors or a special operating mode active. A controller interface (130) sends the command by Modbus, CAN or a dry-contact relay (136), allowing retrofit without controller modification.
