Abstract: Electrical overloading is a common problem that can lead to power failure, damage to electrical appliances, and even fire accidents in places such as hostels, classrooms, laboratories, and small industries. In many cases, traditional protection systems like circuit breakers only cut the power after a fault occurs and do not provide real-time monitoring or user alerts. To overcome these limitations, this project proposes an IoT-Based Smart Electrical Load Monitoring and Automatic Overload Protection System using the ESP32 microcontroller. The system continuously monitors the electrical current consumed by connected devices using a current sensor. When the current exceeds the safe limit for a certain period of time, the system automatically disconnects the power supply using a relay module to prevent damage and improve safety. At the same time, warning alerts are provided through a buzzer and display notifications. The proposed system also allows users to monitor power usage and overload conditions remotely through a wireless IoT dashboard. The collected data can be used to analyze electricity usage patterns and identify unsafe conditions in advance. The system is designed to be low-cost, reliable, and easy to implement in educational institutions, hostels, offices, and small-scale industrial environments. This project helps improve electrical safety, reduce energy-related risks, and demonstrate the practical use of IoT and embedded systems in modern power management applications.
