Abstract: ABSTRACT Electric vehicles (EVs) require a reliable and continuous power supply for efficient charging, but grid disturbances such as voltage fluctuations, power outages, and faults can interrupt the charging process and affect battery performance. This project presents a smart EV charging system designed for residential single- phase supply that continuously monitors grid voltage and current using sensors, with real-time data processing carried out by a microcontroller. When abnormal conditions such as overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, or power failure are detected, the system automatically disconnects the grid and switches to a backup power source to ensure uninterrupted charging. Once normal grid conditions are restored, the system reconnects to the grid and resumes normal operation. This approach improves charging reliability and provides a cost-effective solution for residential EV applications.
