MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621079657 A) filed by Nischal Agrawal; Amit Agrawal; and Sangeeta Agrawal on June 29, 2026, for Smart Eating Utensil With Localized Bite-Level Food Composition And Nutritional Determination.

Inventors include Nischal Agrawal; Amit Agrawal; and Sangeeta Agrawal.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT “SMART EATING UTENSIL WITH LOCALIZED BITE-LEVEL FOOD COMPOSITION AND NUTRITIONAL DETERMINATION” A smart eating utensil comprises a utensil head (101) having a food contact surface (105), a handle portion (102), a load cell assembly (108) mounted between the utensil head (101) and the handle portion (102), and a camera module (111) positioned adjacent to the utensil head (101) with a field of view restricted substantially to food present on or immediately adjacent to the utensil head (101). Image data acquired by the camera module (111) is processed by a food segmentation module (118) to identify food constituents and generate constituent-specific masks. A bite composition determination module (119) derives occupancy ratios corresponding to the identified food constituents. A sensor fusion engine (117) combines the occupancy ratios, density values retrieved from a food density database (146), and weight data obtained from the load cell assembly (108) to allocate constituent- specific mass contributions from a measured total bite weight while maintaining correspondence between the allocated masses and the measured total bite weight. A nutritional validation engine (140) evaluates the allocated constituent-specific mass contributions using validation parameters prior to nutritional determination. A nutritional analysis engine (116) utilizes the validated constituent-specific mass contributions and nutritional information stored in a nutritional database (135) to determine nutritional information associated with the food portion.
