Abstract: The present invention relates to a smart dustbin (100) comprising a waste storage container (101), a sensing unit (102), a control unit (103), a status indication unit (104), a communication unit (105), and a power supply unit (106). The sensing unit detects a parameter associated with the accumula-tion of waste within the waste storage container and provides corresponding information to the control unit. The control unit processes the information against predetermined thresholds to deter-mine a filling status of the container. The status indication unit communicates the determined status through a visual indicator, audible signal, or display. In an optional embodiment, the communica-tion unit transmits the filling status to a remote receiving device or central monitoring platform to support collection planning. The system may further incorporate sensor-reading evaluation, local event storage, and a removable inner receptacle to facilitate monitoring, servicing, and waste re-moval. The smart dustbin enables timely identification of waste collection requirements and sup-ports more efficient management of waste accumulation.
