Abstract: ABSTRACT Electric vehicles are increasingly being adopted as a clean and efficient alternative to conventional transportation systems. However, the overall performance and safety of electric vehicles mainly depend on the reliability of their battery systems. In many existing designs, a single battery pack is used as the primary power source, which may lead to sudden power failure if the battery becomes weak, overheated, or damaged. Such situations can reduce vehicle efficiency and may also create safety risks during operation. To address this problem, this paper presents a Smart Dual-Battery Management System aimed at improving the safety and reliability of electric vehicles. The proposed system utilizes two batteries, where one operates as the main power source and the other serves as a backup battery. A microcontroller continuously monitors key battery parameters such as voltage and temperature using appropriate sensors. When the voltage of the main battery falls below a predefined safe limit, the system automatically switches the load to the backup battery through a relay mechanism, ensuring uninterrupted power supply. For improved safety, a flame sensor is integrated into the system to detect fire or abnormal heat conditions near the battery. Additionally, IoT technology is used to transmit battery data to a cloud platform, allowing users to monitor system performance remotely. The results indicate that the proposed system provides continuous power, enhances safety, and enables effective monitoring of battery performance, making it a practical solution for modern electric vehicles.
