The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: During dental procedures, dentists use a high-speed handpiece to clean or shape teeth, and applying too much pressure or moving the tool too fast can cause pain, tooth damage, and reduced accuracy. Most dentists rely on experience and manual control to manage force and speed, but this can vary between users and may lead to mistakes. To address this issue, a smart monitoring device is proposed that measures the applied force and movement of the dental handpiece in real time. The system uses a force sensor to detect pressure and a motion sensor to track speed and movement, and both sensors send data to a microcontroller for processing. The processed values are displayed on a small OLED screen so the dentist can monitor force and speed during treatment. If the applied pressure exceeds a safe limit, a vibration motor provides an instant alert, helping the dentist adjust hand movement immediately. The device is compact, low-cost, and easy to attach to a dental tool, making it suitable for dental clinics, training environments, and research. Overall, this system helps improve treatment accuracy, ensures safer procedures, and increases patient comfort by providing real-time feedback and better control of the dental handpiece.
