The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a Smart Compost Bin Monitor for real-time monitoring of composting conditions using an Arduino-based embedded system. The proposed system consists of a waterproof DS18B20 temperature sensor, a capacitive soil moisture sensor, an Arduino Uno microcontroller, an I2C LCD display, and an alert unit. The sensors are placed inside the compost bin to continuously monitor temperature and moisture levels, which are the key parameters affecting the composting process. The Arduino Uno collects and processes sensor data to evaluate the condition of the compost. Based on predefined threshold values, the system determines the compost status and provides real-time information through the LCD display. The display shows temperature, moisture percentage, and compost health conditions such as Healthy Compost, Too Dry, Too Wet, Cool Compost, or High Temperature. The alert unit notifies users whenever abnormal conditions are detected, enabling timely corrective actions. The Smart Compost Bin Monitor provides a low-cost, reliable, and eco-friendly solution for monitoring organic waste decomposition. The system reduces the need for manual inspection, improves compost quality, accelerates decomposition, and promotes sustainable waste management practices. The invention is suitable for household compost bins, educational institutions, community composting units, gardens, and agricultural applications.
