Abstract: A smart bridge monitoring system and method are disclosed, comprising a plurality of moisture sensor nodes (111) embedded within a bridge deck (110) at a plurality of predetermined depths, each co-located with a temperature sensor (112), together with a corrosion-potential sensor (113) embedded adjacent a reinforcement bar. A data acquisition unit (114) receives the sensed values, and a moisture-ingress analysis unit (116) computes a moisture gradient and a corrosion risk index by correlating the gradient, temperature, and corrosion-potential data. When the risk index exceeds a first threshold, an automated drainage actuator (117) and a dehumidification module (118) are automatically activated. The risk index and location data are transmitted, via a wireless communication module (115), to a remote monitoring server (119), whose alert dispatch engine (120) notifies a bridge maintenance authority only where the risk index exceeds a second threshold or persists despite corrective action. An escalation controller (122) progressively escalates an unacknowledged alert to successive authority tiers, while a solar power module (123) sustains independent operation.
