Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a smart blind curve alert system (100) for detecting vehicles approaching a blind curve from opposite directions and warning drivers before the vehicles reach the obstructed portion of the road. Vehicle detection sensors (103, 104) positioned on respective sides of the curve detect approaching vehicles and provide corresponding signals to a controller (105). The controller (105) processes successive detection information to determine the distance and movement condition of each detected vehicle and identifies a potential conflict condition when vehicles approaching from opposite directions are likely to reach the blind curve within a predefined interval. Upon detecting the potential conflict condition, the controller (105) activates direction-specific warning indicators (106, 107) and an audible warning unit (108) to alert the approaching drivers. The controller (105) also transmits the detected vehicle and warning information to a remote monitoring device and stores the corresponding event information.
