The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: Bruxism is a parafunctional oral behavior characterized by involuntary or habitual grinding, gnashing, or clenching of the teeth, along with bracing or thrusting of the mandible. It is broadly classified based on the time of occurrence into sleep bruxism (SB), which takes place during sleep and is often linked to sleep arousal, and awake bruxism (AB), which occurs during wakefulness and is commonly associated with stress, anxiety, or heightened mental focus. Many individuals remain unaware of this habit, making diagnosis dependent on self-reporting and polysomnography. The proposed device addresses this limitation by enabling real-time monitoring of jaw muscle activity through internally placed sensors. When the biting force exceeds a predefined threshold, a signal is generated and processed by a microcontroller, producing visual, auditory, and digital outputs. This allows continuous home monitoring and provides detailed data on the frequency, intensity, and duration of bruxism episodes.
