MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641069038 A) filed by S. Pavithra; and Kingston Engineering College, Vellore on June 02, 2026, for Smart Bike Safety Innovations.
Inventors include Dr. U. V. Arivazhagu; Dr. M. Rathika; and J. Paul Richardson Gnanaraj.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a smart bike safety and security system in the field of Automotive Engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems. The system integrates GPS-based geofencing, automatic speed control, and user authentication mechanisms to enhance rider safety and prevent unauthorized vehicle usage. A GPS module continuously provides real-time location data, which is processed by a microcontroller to detect entry into predefined safety zones such as schools, hospitals, and accident-prone areas. Upon detection, the system automatically limits vehicle speed using pulse width modulation (PWM), overriding user inputs to ensure compliance with safety restrictions. The system further incorporates an loT-based communication interface for remote monitoring and control, along with a license-based or identity verification mechanism that enables ignition only for authorized users. The integrated design utilizes low-power embedded components, ensuring cost-effectiveness, scalability, and ease of implementation in two-wheelers and electric vehicles. The invention provides a reliable, real-time, and automated solution for improving road safety and vehicle security.
